Care Guide & Handling Precautions
This page covers best practices for keeping your Hapbeat in good condition over time.
Charging and Battery Management
Section titled “Charging and Battery Management”How to Charge
Section titled “How to Charge”- Charge using the included USB Type-C data cable (a charge-only cable can supply power, but we recommend keeping a data cable on hand for configuration changes)
- While charging, the LED glows red; it switches to LED green when fully charged
- Connect to a PC USB port or a USB charger rated at 5 V / 1 A or higher
Estimated Battery Life
Section titled “Estimated Battery Life”Battery life varies significantly depending on usage environment, vibration frequency, and whether the OLED display is on or off. See Specifications & Certifications for specific estimates.
Tips to Extend Battery Life
Section titled “Tips to Extend Battery Life”- Avoid leaving the battery at full charge for extended periods: Lithium-ion batteries degrade faster when stored fully charged. If you use the device at least once a week, storing it fully charged is fine, but for long-term storage, aim for a 50–70% charge level.
- Avoid deep discharge: Leaving the battery at 0% for a prolonged period can cause over-discharge, which may prevent the device from restarting. Recharge when the level gets low.
- Avoid high-temperature environments: Do not leave the device in a car in summer heat, direct sunlight, or any environment exceeding 60°C.
Long-Term Storage
Section titled “Long-Term Storage”- If storing for more than one month, charge to approximately 50–70% before storing
- Check the charge level every six months; if it has dropped below 20%, recharge
- Recommended storage temperature: 0°C to 35°C (room temperature is ideal)
Behavior at Low Battery
Section titled “Behavior at Low Battery”Distortion in sound and vibration at low battery levels has been reported on the current Duo WL board. You can avoid this by keeping the charge above 60% or using the device while charging. For details, see Troubleshooting.
Cleaning
Section titled “Cleaning”Daily Cleaning
Section titled “Daily Cleaning”- After wearing, wipe lightly with a dry, soft cloth
- Sweat and skin oils can cause discoloration and odor — ideally wipe the device down on the day of use
For Stubborn Dirt
Section titled “For Stubborn Dirt”- Wipe the soiled area with a well-wrung damp cloth (lightly moistened with water or a mild detergent)
- Alcohol wipes may be used on the plastic body only — do not apply directly to the OLED, vibration elements, or USB-C connector
- Do not use thinner, benzene, or abrasive cleaners
Handling the Vibration Elements (Actuators)
Section titled “Handling the Vibration Elements (Actuators)”- Vibration elements are precision components — strong impacts, disassembly, or modification can cause failure
- Do not press hard on or pull the vibration elements directly
- If the device is dropped, verify that vibration still works normally (see Troubleshooting)
Handling Precautions
Section titled “Handling Precautions”Water Resistance
Section titled “Water Resistance”Hapbeat is not water-resistant or splash-proof.
- Use in rain or during heavy-sweat activities risks damage
- Never wash with water
- Do not use in the bath, pool, or shower
Sweat Management
Section titled “Sweat Management”- For long wear sessions where sweating is expected, we recommend wearing the device over an undershirt or thin fabric
- After use, wipe sweat from the device body and the contact area before storing
Wearing Precautions
Section titled “Wearing Precautions”- Stop using the device immediately if you feel any discomfort or pain in your neck, wrist, or ankle
- If skin abnormalities appear (redness, itching, rash), stop use and consult a doctor
- If you use an implanted medical device such as a pacemaker, consult your doctor before wearing Hapbeat
Use by Children
Section titled “Use by Children”This product is not a toy. Keep it out of reach of small children to prevent accidental ingestion of small parts (such as band fasteners).
Transport & Storage
Section titled “Transport & Storage”Transporting the Device
Section titled “Transporting the Device”- Use a dedicated pouch or a padded case to protect the device from impact
- Be careful not to let foreign objects enter the USB-C port while in a bag
Air Travel
Section titled “Air Travel”Because Hapbeat contains a built-in lithium-ion battery, it should generally be carried in carry-on luggage only (not checked baggage). Check the regulations of your airline for details.
- International flights may have capacity limits for lithium-ion products including spare batteries
- Hapbeat has a fixed internal battery, so carry-on is normally permitted, but we recommend confirming with your airline before boarding
Disposal
Section titled “Disposal”Do not dispose of Hapbeat as regular household waste, as it contains a lithium-ion battery.
- Follow your local municipality’s small appliance recycling or rechargeable battery recycling guidelines
- Contact support if you are unsure of the correct disposal method
